Tyler Tkachyk Tribute Scholarship

Tyler Tkachyk Tribute Scholarship

The Bullpen Academy will be honouring the memory of Tyler Tkachyk through a scholarship provided to a player, which affords them an opportunity to attend the 10-week indoor program offered up in the fall at Lionel Courchene indoor cages.

Both of Tyler’s parents, Usha & Andy, approached me regarding a scholarship, looking to fund one player each year to receive free baseball instruction over a 10-week period, in Tyler’s name.

Tyler worked for me at the Bullpen over an 8-9 year period before stepping aside to help his father with the family business. I feel extremely honoured to have had the chance to get to know Tyler over the years and have him as a part of the Bullpen family. Tyler was truly one-of-a kind. The way he was able to interact and mentor younger players was a true joy to watch, and a skill found rarely amongst my instructors.

Tyler was taken from us far too young; he passed away on January 28, 2018 while in Thailand, on vacation. For those people who truly know Tyler he lived life to its fullest, this is a fact. Tragically, he perished in a moped accident while away on vacation.

You will be missed greatly by all people fortunate enough to have had the chance to know you. Your memory will live on forever, at least as long as I am around to honour it.

2018 Scholarship Recipient

This year Levi Dean (8) from Surrey Canadian was awarded the scholarship. He will be able to attend the 2018 Bullpen 10-Week Program free of charge.
